A New Chapter for BigHit Music
For the first time in six years, BigHit Music is launching a brand-new boy group — and expectations are sky-high. Following the global success of BTS and TXT, the label is now introducing CORTIS, a group determined to color outside the lines and break free from conventional industry norms.
Set to debut on August 18, CORTIS is not just another idol group. The name itself comes from the phrase “COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES”, with six letters rearranged to create a bold, memorable identity. Their mission? To think freely, challenge rules, and create art on their own terms.
Meet the Members
CORTIS consists of five teenage members: Martin, James, Joohoon, Sunghyun, and Geonho. What makes them stand out is their label as a “Young Creator Crew” — artists who craft their own music, choreography, videos, and visual content.
Rather than sticking to fixed positions like “main vocalist” or “main dancer,” all five members engage in co-creation. This shared creative responsibility allows them to build a unified artistic vision while letting each member’s strengths shine.
Proven Talent Before Debut
Even before stepping onto the stage as CORTIS, the members have already left their mark on the K-pop scene.
- Martin has songwriting and composition credits for TXT’s Deja Vu and Miracle, ENHYPEN’s Outside, LE SSERAFIM’s Pierrot, and ILLIT’s Magnetic.
- James co-created choreography for Deja Vu, Magnetic, and ILLIT’s Cherish, and also collaborated with Martin on music production.
These pre-debut contributions prove that CORTIS members are more than just performers — they are creators with industry-level skills.
The BigHit Legacy
BigHit Music’s reputation for producing world-class boy groups is unmatched. BTS became the first K-pop act to top the Billboard Hot 100, breaking records and earning a place in music history. TXT followed with a successful debut that solidified their place as global trendsetters.
With over 13 years of experience managing these powerhouse groups, BigHit’s production know-how is a major asset for CORTIS. Fans and industry insiders alike are watching closely to see how this new act will build upon the BTS and TXT legacy while forging its own path.
A Digital-First Debut
True to their Gen Z identity, CORTIS is embracing digital platforms from day one. Member Martin has already posted a “logo sound” clip on TikTok, giving fans a taste of the group’s creative style. This clever move has sparked curiosity and attracted K-pop listeners from around the globe before their official debut stage.
Their early use of social media signals a strategic approach — blending traditional K-pop promotional cycles with viral, shareable content designed to captivate an international audience.
What to Expect
While BigHit has yet to reveal full details about CORTIS’s debut album, the group’s pre-debut activities suggest an emphasis on self-produced music, bold performance concepts, and rich storytelling.
Given their existing contributions to high-profile K-pop tracks, fans can anticipate an eclectic mix of genres, cutting-edge choreography, and visuals that challenge the norm.
With BTS currently on individual projects and TXT at the height of their career, CORTIS could become BigHit’s next big global breakthrough — bridging the gap between tradition and innovation.
