💬 A Dancer’s Soul: LEEJUNG Reflects on Passion, Growth, and BTS’s V
Renowned choreographer and dancer LEEJUNG is one of the most respected figures in K-pop’s performance world. Known for crafting iconic choreographies for TWICE, BLACKPINK, ENHYPEN, (G)I-DLE, ITZY, and Taeyong, she’s a creative force behind many of K-pop’s most viral moves.
In a recent interview with iMBC following the finale of World of Street Woman Fighter, LEEJUNG got candid about her journey, mindset, and most notably — her profound respect for BTS’s V (Kim Taehyung).
🩶 The Moment She Chose to Stay True to Her Roots
Despite becoming a fan-favorite “player” on-screen since Street Woman Fighter in 2021, LEEJUNG emphasized her identity as a pure dancer and creator.
“My essence is that of a dancer. Even if I get opportunities to perform as a front-line artist, I want to preserve the nature of my profession. What matters to me is dancing better and creating better work.”
She added that every performance she does should come from a place of readiness and artistic perfection, not from pressure or trend.
🎭 Dance as Expression: Her Personal Art Form
When asked about what makes dance magical, she compared it to acting:
“Just like actors embody different roles in films, I become different versions of myself through choreography.”
Whether she’s supporting idols or performing herself, LEEJUNG said the biggest joy of her career is expressing many sides of herself and connecting through movement.
🕊️ Respect for the Art: Why BTS’s V Stood Out
Among all artists she’s worked with or observed, one name stood above the rest — V of BTS.
“He’s not even a dancer, yet he loves dance as much as I do. That sincerity… it’s inspiring.”
LEEJUNG described her bond with V as one rooted in their mutual love for dance. Despite V being a vocalist and all-round artist, his dedication and pure-hearted approach to dancing has left a deep mark on her:
“He has so many responsibilities, yet he gives everything to dance without compromise. It makes me reflect and pushes me to grow too.”
💡 Evolving Through Collaboration and Humility
LEEJUNG also shared that she’s learned to open up more — citing Honey J, another dancer and leader, as someone who taught her the power of listening to feedback and letting go of stubbornness.
It’s this spirit of continuous self-reflection, combined with her artistic drive, that makes LEEJUNG one of the most admired creatives in the K-pop industry today.
